Our Team

Annette
Owner and Director
"After spending a career in the corporate world of volume housebuilding, I felt like it was time for a change. So, I left the industry determined to do something completely different, centred around something that I love. That something just happened to be my two English Bulldogs.
The seed for Mabel & Friends was sown with a vision to provide the best dog day care facility in the area, which could serve as a ‘one stop shop’ for dog owners. As a lifelong dog owner, I know just how incredibly special that relationship is. My aim with Mabel & Friends is to provide the most loving, caring and stimulating environment for our four-legged best friends."

Meg
Daycare Manager
“I pretty much fell into this line of work when I was 16 and still trying to figure out what I wanted to do as a career. I’ve been working with dogs for 12 years now, having spent time in grooming parlours, kennels and daycares, and I absolutely adore what I do.
On top of my years of experience, I studied canine behaviour and have level 2 and 3 qualifications in animal welfare. I think dogs are the answer to many of life’s problems, so how lucky am I to get to spend all of my time with them! I am also a Canine First Aider.”

Christie
Senior Canine Carer
“I’m a qualified Veterinary Physiotherapist with over 14 years of experience working with dogs in a range of different environments. I knew I wanted to be a vet from a young age, which came from a love and passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. Before joining Mabel and Friends I was teaching animal care, I am delighted that I am now able to continue this with the Mabel and Friends Academy. Relishing the chance to share my knowledge on canine health, welfare and behaviour with others. I am also a Canine First Aider.”

Lea
Day Care Assistant
“I love working with dogs and have decided that I want this to be my career after working in office’s for a few years. I am thrilled to be pursuing my passion for working with dogs and to be gaining a level 2 qualification in animal care through the Government apprentice scheme. I adore taking care of dogs and have truly found my calling in life since starting to work here at Mabel and Friends. I am looking forward to seeing where the future will take me in my career!

Pippa
Apprentice Day Care Assistant
"Hi, I’m Pippa, I have previously worked with dogs and wanted to make it my career. I was delighted to be successful in securing an apprenticeship with Mabel and Friends Day Retreat to study Animal Care and Welfare. I love working in the daycare environment looking after and learning all about so many wonderful dogs."

Jess
Salon Manager and Head Stylist
“I’m lucky enough to be able to say that I get to work my dream job. I’ve wanted to work with animals since I was young, with a particular love for dogs. I started my career working in kennels before finding my passion in grooming, and I’m now a Level 2 and Level 3 qualified dog groomer.
I love that grooming allows me to combine my creativity with my passion for canine care. I’m constantly developing my knowledge and skills, always looking for ways to improve the experience and welfare of the dogs in my care.
Alongside grooming, I have completed a teaching qualification and am proud to be part of the Mabel & Friends Canine Academy, helping to educate and support aspiring canine professionals. I’m passionate about sharing practical knowledge, encouraging confidence and helping students develop the skills they need to build a successful career within the canine industry.
I am also a Canine First Aider and believe that continuing professional development and education are key to maintaining high standards of care within the industry."

Gemma

We are extremely fortunate to be collaborating with Gemma and her business Your Pets and Me.
“A love of dogs has led me to where I am today – a fully qualified trainer and certified specialist in canine reactivity, body language, scentwork and puppy training. Following on from getting my National Diploma in Animal Management, I’ve spent the last 15 years working with dogs and developing my specialist skills at The Dog Training College. I am also a Canine First Aider.”
